PokéLit shiny odds

The two published rates

Wild shinies are 1/4096. Gacha shinies are 1/100. Both figures are on the official shinies page, checked 4 Nov 2026. They describe different acquisition paths. The wild figure applies to encounters during a run, while the gacha figure applies to region rolls. Compare like with like when recording your own results.

A duplicate shiny is worth triple the coins. That is the payout the same page describes. It is not a second roll.

What a hunt can mean

You meet Pokémon during a run and from region gacha paid with tickets you earned in game. The wild rate applies to encounters: the official page says a shiny sparkles and triggers an alert, and defeating it adds it to your collection. The gacha rate applies to the ticket machine. I do not have a published breakdown of how many wild spawns you see per minute, so I will not quote a “shinies per hour” figure.

The official page explains that caught shinies are saved to your collection. You can select an owned shiny form in your collection. A later patch also adds a shiny toggle in the menu, so collecting a form and choosing its appearance are separate actions.

Use the collection and odds together

Check which forms are already in your collection before spending tickets. The duplicate payout is a coin reward, so a repeated shiny and a newly collected form have different results even when the appearance matches. Tickets are earned through play; the items guide explains the available held items and the safety page records the separate supporter-track wording.

Questions

What is the PokéLit shiny rate?

The official shinies page says 1 in 4,096 in the wild and 1 in 100 from the gacha. Those are the only two rates I will print.

Do all 980 have a shiny?

The same page says almost all 980 have a shiny form. It does not name the exceptions, so the Pokédex leaves the per-species cell blank.

What happens if you already own that shiny?

A duplicate shiny pays triple coins, according to the official shinies page.
