Best PokéLit starter for the first ten minutes
What “best” means here
Starter score = 0.45 × HP percentile + 0.35 × attack percentile + 0.20 × speed percentile, calculated within the 29 opening partners. Bands are S ≥80, A ≥60, B ≥35, and C <35. Signature descriptions inform my separate recommendations, while the numerical score uses only the three stats.
Two partners land in S: Scorbunny (84.8) and Sobble (83.6). Thirteen more land in A, including Quaxly, Grookey, Slowpoke, Psyduck, Turtwig, Mudkip, Tepig, Litten, Oshawott, and Totodile. “Damage ceiling”, “support”, and similar role labels are editorial interpretations rather than official rankings.
Easy first run
For a first Normal run I would take Sobble. Its score is close to Scorbunny’s, and I read Tear Gas’s slowing and confusing effects as useful breathing room while learning telegraphs. That is why my first-run recommendation differs from simply taking the highest stat score.
Charmander and Bulbasaur are familiar starter choices. Their starter scores are 32.0 (C) and 58.0 (B), respectively. Those bands describe the weighted stat comparison; a favorite signature or play style can still make either an appealing choice.
Harder regions
Later regions open after Arceus’s Judgment at minute 30. I interpret Scorbunny’s signature as a damage-focused choice for crowded regions. Slowpoke’s delayed attack suggests boss burst, while Psyduck’s signature suggests counter-damage. These are editorial ways to compare the published descriptions.
I do not have Mega or Demonic multipliers, so I do not claim these picks “beat Demonic”. The difficulty names exist. The numbers do not.
Co-op seat
Up to four people share a run. Mudkip’s radar and slowing signature makes it my support suggestion. I interpret Litten’s signature as a speed-and-area option. If teammates already cover support, Litten or Scorbunny would be my damage-focused alternatives.
The 29-row table shows the starter score, a separate full-roster Stat band, and editorial role labels where available. The full-roster bands use percentiles across all 980 partners: S ≥90, A ≥75, B ≥50, C ≥25, and D <25. Role labels summarize signature text; they are not copied official class names.

Questions
How many starters does PokéLit have?
The public Pokédex marks 29 species as starter choices. The other partners are still in the 980, but they are not the opening pick.
Is Scorbunny the best starter?
Scorbunny has the highest score from the published starter base stats, at 84.8. Sobble is next at 83.6. I recommend Sobble for a first run based on its slowing and confusing signature, while Scorbunny is my damage-focused alternative. Those recommendations are editorial.
Which starter helps a co-op group?
Mudkip’s Fin Radar signature is the basis for my support recommendation: its radar and slowing effect suggest value when teammates cover damage. The co-op role is an editorial interpretation of the signature text.
